A healthcare worker, a man in his 50s who cannot be identified due to legal reasons, is on trial accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl who was treated after a suspected overdose. The accused has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
According to accounts of the case, the alleged assaults relate to events in 2024 at a medical facility in the Midlands. The prosecution alleges two counts of sexual assault on a date in 2024 involving the then 17-year-old girl. The girl had depression and had needed treatment following a tablet overdose before the incident, prosecutors say.
One report also says the accused referred to the teenager as “baby” during the alleged incident. The defence does not accept the allegations, and the matter is now being heard in court. The accused’s identity is withheld throughout the proceedings in line with legal restrictions.
