Police in Sultan Kudarat are investigating an ambush that kills two law enforcers and may be linked to their job, according to a top police official. The victims, Patrolmen Apollo Pagurayan and Joerel Bullos of the 1202nd Maneuver Company under the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-12 (RMFB-12), were killed in Barangay Tinumiguis in Lambayong. The incident happened at about 7 p.m. on Tuesday while the officers were riding a motorcycle and heading back to a border control checkpoint located along the boundary of Lambayong and Sultan sa Barongis in Maguindanao del Sur. Authorities said the ambushers used M16 rifles as the officers passed by the Tinumiguis Bridge. In response to the deaths, Police Regional Office-12 director Brig. Gen. Alan Manibog ordered a thorough investigation to determine who carried out the attack and to bring those responsible to justice. Officials describe the officers as strictly dutiful, and investigators are examining whether the attack could have been motivated by their enforcement work. No suspects are publicly identified in the reports.
