Authorities said the ambushers used M16 rifles as the officers passed by the Tinumiguis Bridge. In response to the deaths, Police Regional Office-12 director Brig. Gen. Alan Manibog ordered a thorough investigation to determine who carried out the attack and to bring those responsible to justice. Officials describe the officers as strictly dutiful, and investigators are examining whether the attack could have been motivated by their enforcement work.
