Actor Rajkummar Rao has unveiled the first poster for “Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story,” a biographical film based on the life of former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly. The announcement coincides with Ganguly’s birthday on July 8. In the poster, Rao recreates Ganguly’s well-known celebration at Lord’s—where, after India’s 2002 NatWest Series final against England, Ganguly removes his shirt and waves it from the Lord’s balcony following a two-wicket victory. The poster includes the title “DADA” and the subtitle “The Sourav Ganguly Story,” along with a tagline referencing Ganguly’s influence.

The film is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and produced by Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg. The release is scheduled for May 14, 2027. Casting reported across outlets includes Tanya Maniktala as Ganguly’s wife, Dona Ganguly, and also mentions Saswata Chatterjee among the cast. Separate reporting notes that earlier attempts to secure rights for a screen portrayal of Ganguly’s story were made by actor Sushant Singh Rajput in 2018, though Ganguly was not ready for a film at the time.
