Authorities are investigating a ground collision involving aircraft operated by Saudia and Philippine Airlines (PAL) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), the airport operator New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) says. NNIC reports that the incident occurs late Tuesday and involves a Saudia aircraft taxiing for departure striking the tail section of a parked PAL aircraft. Follow-up details in the reports indicate the impact involves the wingtip of the taxiing Saudia plane.

NNIC says no injuries are reported and that airport operations are not significantly affected. It also says passengers aboard the subsequently canceled Saudia flight SV871 safely disembark. PAL states that no passengers or crew members are onboard at the time of the incident because the aircraft was parked.

The two airlines and NAIA authorities are now conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances leading to the collision, including the movements of the aircraft involved and the exact location and timing at the airport.
