Maruti Suzuki India commissions a 1 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) at its Kharkhoda manufacturing facility in Haryana. According to the company, the project is integrated into the facility’s internal electricity distribution network as a pilot initiative. Maruti Suzuki says it installed a 20 MWp solar power project at the Kharkhoda plant in 2025, but some of the electricity generated during facility holidays could not be used because there was no corresponding demand. The BESS is designed to store excess power produced during low-demand periods and release it when power is needed. The company also states that the system will help improve grid stability. The announcements across outlets focus on the commissioning of the 1 MWh system and its role in managing surplus solar generation at the plant, positioning the installation as part of broader efforts to strengthen on-site energy use and resilience.
