Arvind Kejriwal, an Aam Aadmi Party leader, writes to 29 automobile manufacturers seeking clarification on the use of E20 fuel. In his letter, he asks the companies to provide written assurance on whether E20 affects mileage and whether it has any impact on vehicle engines, including for older vehicles. The move follows what Kejriwal describes as conflicting claims by company representatives and differences with guidance in owners’ manuals, which he says has increased consumer uncertainty about switching to or using E20 at petrol pumps.

Kejriwal also seeks confirmation about fuel compatibility and the responsibilities of manufacturers if customers experience reduced mileage or other damage after using E20. Business Line reports that the letter asks manufacturers to compensate customers in such cases.

In parallel, Mint reports that the AAP shares a mock “petrol pump” bill as part of its campaign around E20-related concerns. The reports also state Kejriwal plans to press the Prime Minister to make E20 optional, so consumers can have choices among fuel variants at fuel outlets.
