Nintendo is ending online service for its mobile racing game Mario Kart Tour on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, after about seven years. Nintendo announces the end of service via an in-app/update message and related support pages for players on iOS and Android. After the shutdown, the game will no longer be playable because Nintendo does not plan an offline version.
In the lead-up to the end date, Nintendo adjusts monetization and subscription options. Nintendo stops the sale of rubies, the game’s premium in-game currency, and ends automatic subscription renewals. Players with a Gold Pass subscription receive benefits for free through September 29, while non-subscribers start receiving Gold Pass benefits on August 4. The support updates also describe how remaining rubies can be used in certain shops and features until service ends.
Mario Kart Tour launched in September 2019 and reportedly reached more than 90 million downloads during its first week. The shutdown follows other mobile game cancellations by Nintendo in recent years, leaving only a limited number of Nintendo mobile titles still active.
