Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir says Pakistan’s armed forces are aware of state-sponsored efforts by “hostile intelligence agencies” to destabilise the country, and he adds that terrorism originating across the border will be crushed with the “full might of the state”. In remarks delivered to graduating officers at the National Defence University in Islamabad, Munir reiterates that proxy networks linked to such external intelligence tutelage will not be allowed to undermine Pakistan’s internal security or economic prosperity.
The statement, issued through the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), also points to the evolving nature of warfare and the need for strategic clarity and institutional professionalism when dealing with complex security threats. Munir says the Pakistan Armed Forces are adapting operational and development strategies in line with the changing character of conflict, and he highlights the role of NDU in preparing future military and civilian leaders for hybrid, conventional, and sub-conventional challenges.
In a related ISPR briefing, officials state that attacks and subsequent operations in Balochistan since July 5 have killed 54 terrorists and left four civilians, 27 policemen, and 11 security personnel dead.
