COMEDK suspends the candidature of 36 candidates for COMEDK UGET 2026 after detecting alleged examination malpractice at three test centres in Jamshedpur. The consortium bars the candidates from participating in the ongoing counselling and seat-selection process while an inquiry is completed. COMEDK says its audit—covering academic, administrative and forensic checks—finds credible and conclusive evidence of irregularities involving specific candidates and examination personnel at the centres. The audit includes CCTV frame-by-frame review, analysis of answering behaviour and patterns, and academic review methods such as item analysis and distractor index checks, alongside comparison of Class 12 performance with UGET performance.

Reports state that four of the suspended candidates are among the Top 10 rank holders. The candidates are asked to appear before COMEDK authorities in Bengaluru on or before July 10, 2026 to inspect the evidence gathered and provide explanations. COMEDK also indicates it plans to file a police complaint after hearing the candidates. Despite the suspension, COMEDK states that the counselling process continues as scheduled, with mock allotment choice filling set to begin on July 11, 2026.
