Heavy rain leads to sudden flooding in Raigad district’s Rasayani industrial area in Maharashtra on Wednesday, according to reports. About 3,000 LPG cylinders from a plant are swept into the Patalganga river as floodwaters rise. Videos shared by outlets show people rushing toward the swollen river to retrieve floating cylinders, even as authorities warn that such attempts are dangerous.
District administration officials say they are working to trace and recover the missing cylinders. Approximately 1,000 cylinders have been retrieved so far, while the rest are still unaccounted for. The administration asks residents to return any cylinders they find rather than taking them to avoid safety risks. Residents are instructed to hand over cylinders to HPCL or local authorities, where they can be accounted for and managed appropriately.
Officials attribute the incident to sudden flooding caused by the heavy rainfall.
