Troops from Nigeria’s 17 Brigade, Sector 2 under Operation Fansan Yamma, with support from hybrid security forces, stop a planned terrorist attack on commuters along the Kakumi–Guga Road in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State. Multiple reports say the operation is launched after credible intelligence indicates that armed men loyal to terrorist leader Idi Abasu Aiki are mobilising to attack motorists and other road users in the area.

According to the accounts, the suspected attackers are sighted moving toward the road on five motorcycles. Security forces move into position and set an ambush along the route. A gun battle follows, during which eight suspected terrorists are killed.

After the engagement, the troops conduct area exploitation and recover equipment reported in one source, including two AK-47 rifles and the five motorcycles reportedly used in the attack. Following the incident, security personnel reportedly intensify patrols and monitoring in and around the route to help prevent retaliatory actions and further attacks on nearby communities and road users.
