The Department of Education (DepEd) says it is strengthening oversight of its localized classroom construction program after 168 local government units (LGUs) signed supplemental memoranda of agreement (MOAs). DepEd Education Secretary Sonny Angara highlights that the monitoring framework is designed to ensure local infrastructure projects follow national timelines, meet quality standards, and comply with fiscal requirements. According to DepEd, the agreements cover 72 provinces, 73 cities, and 23 municipalities, reflecting broad geographic participation across the country.

Both reports frame the development as part of DepEd’s efforts to make the rollout more transparent and verifiable while coordinating with local partners that carry out or support classroom construction. The agency says its enhanced supervision includes alignment checks against program schedules and adherence to established quality and documentation protocols. DepEd presents the expanded LGU partnership and the accompanying oversight measures as a way to support the timely delivery of additional classrooms while maintaining controls intended to reduce risks related to implementation and use of funds.
