Former Sokoto State governor Aminu Tambuwal says President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are concerned about the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar. Speaking at an event in which Isa Salihu Bashir Kalanjeni, a former chairman of Tangaza Local Government Area, defected from the APC to the ADC, Tambuwal described Tinubu as an “outgoing president” who, he said, stays up late due to Atiku’s presence. Tambuwal also alleged that the APC is trying to suppress the ADC’s visibility, adding that “God has prevented” those efforts from succeeding. He further criticized the federal government for not addressing insecurity and other major national challenges. Tambuwal said some politicians are reluctant to join the ADC because of the risks of leaving the ruling party, but he argued that people who prioritize Nigeria’s interests over personal gain should consider aligning with the ADC. The reports present Tambuwal’s remarks as political commentary in the context of preparations for 2027.
