The Sandiganbayan Second Division affirms its earlier denial of Senator Jinggoy Estrada’s motion to dismiss a graft case filed against him. The court ruling, reported by multiple outlets, states that the motion lacks merit.
The graft case is tied to alleged kickbacks connected to flood control projects. Prosecutors allege that Estrada received a 25% kickback related to projects worth about ₱855 million, involving transactions in Bulacan amounting to roughly ₱213 million. Separately, Estrada is also facing a non-bailable plunder case that prosecutors describe as involving alleged kickbacks totaling about ₱573 million, which includes transactions in Metro Manila and Oriental Mindoro worth about ₱350 million and transactions in Bulacan worth about ₱213 million.
Both reports describe the Sandiganbayan’s action as upholding the denial of Estrada’s bid to junk the graft case, with the court finding no sufficient basis to dismiss it at this stage.
