Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis says the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) final report on the Jan. 28 crash involving Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s Learjet 45 is expected in January. Fadnavis adds that the AAIB investigation is continuing beyond the preliminary stage, with further action planned after the final report is submitted.
According to Fadnavis, the preliminary report has already been received. He also says investigators have reconstructed relevant evidence, including data retrieved from the aircraft’s black box, and that the inquiry work is underway on that basis. Separate investigations are also in progress: the incident is being examined by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as well as the AAIB.
Pawar and four others died in the crash near Baramati airport on January 28. Following the accident, the AAIB launched a formal probe to determine the circumstances and contributing factors. The government’s stated timeline ties the next phase of procedural steps to receipt of the AAIB’s final findings in January.
