The National Medical Commission (NMC) clears additional MBBS intake for medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh, including Kadapa and Nellore. According to reports, the NMC issues Letters of Permission (LoPs) that expand undergraduate seats at the government medical college in Kadapa and the ACSR government medical college in Nellore. The Health minister, Satya Kumar Yadav, announces the development and states that the NMC’s LoPs allow an increase in MBBS intake by a total of 100 seats. Specifically, the reports say the intake rises by 75 seats in Kadapa and by 25 seats in Nellore. With these permissions, the medical colleges move to higher approved intake capacity for the MBBS programme. Both outlets frame the decision as an NMC approval for seat expansion rather than a new affiliation or change in course structure. The announcements are made on Friday, with NMC clearance cited as the basis for the additional seats.
