Delhi’s National Zoological Park has welcomed three Asiatic lion cubs born to its breeding pair. According to reports from Times of India and NDTV, the cubs are born on Tuesday to Mahagauri and Maheshwar, a pair maintained as part of the zoo’s conservation and breeding efforts. After birth, the three cubs are kept with their mother in a secure maternity enclosure as they are monitored during the early days of life. The reports describe the newborns as part of the zoo’s Asiatic lion population management, aimed at supporting conservation goals for the endangered species. The cubs are currently in the maternity facility rather than being exhibited, reflecting standard practice to ensure the animals’ safety and wellbeing during the initial period. The zoo’s staff track the mother and cubs closely while they settle in following the birth. The arrivals mark another step in the breeding programme for Asiatic lions at the park, which focuses on maintaining and strengthening the captive population through carefully managed reproduction.
