Nigeria’s National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) issues a warning to Nigerians following the seizure in Ghana of two alcoholic energy drinks. The agency’s alert follows Ghanaian authorities confiscating the products over health concerns. In its public notice, NAFDAC identifies the drinks as Bel Ice Vodka Energy Drink and Cody’s Vody Energy Mix, which it says are banned in the affected market.

NAFDAC directs importers, distributors and consumers not to bring the seized products into Nigeria and to avoid trading or consuming them. The agency frames the warning around potential health risks associated with the products that prompted Ghana’s enforcement action.

The warning is published as Public Alert No. 032/2026, and it serves as an advisory to the public and regulated stakeholders to check against prohibited items and ensure compliance with food and drug safety requirements. NAFDAC’s notice does not indicate changes in the status of the drinks beyond the ban, but it reinforces that the products should not be handled in Nigeria.
