Television actor Rohit Chandel, known for roles including “Sairaab,” is arrested by Mumbai Police on allegations involving a 16-year-old girl. According to the complaints cited by multiple outlets, the minor has alleged that Chandel repeatedly contacted and disturbed her over time, including allegedly making repeated calls to her mobile phone using his own number and other numbers. Reports also say the complaint describes an incident in which Chandel confronted the girl near her residential building on July 5 in Mumbai’s eastern suburbs. He is alleged to have chased her, argued with her, verbally abused her, and assaulted her by hitting her with his hands.
Police say a case is registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Outlets also report charges involving provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Chandel was arrested at his Dahisar residence and is produced before a special POCSO court, which remanded him to police custody. The investigations are reported to be ongoing, and none of the sources report a public statement from Chandel or his representatives.
