A seven-year-old girl is found dead in the basement of an under-construction mall in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, with police saying the body is discovered around 1 a.m. on Saturday. According to reports, the girl’s family alleges she was kidnapped near her home and lured with snacks before being raped and murdered. Her father describes severe injuries, including head bleeding and fractures, and alleges rape. Police have not confirmed these claims. Authorities say the scene is inspected by senior officials, with a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team and a dog squad called in to collect evidence. Police also suspect she may have been thrown from the third floor of the construction site, though the sequence of events is not yet established. Several individuals are detained for questioning, with at least two persons reported detained on suspicion. The case is registered under sections related to gang rape, kidnapping, murder and common intention, along with provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Investigators are awaiting post-mortem and forensic reports.
