Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, urges Nigeria’s military and other security agencies to sustain rescue operations in Southern Borno following a recent rescue linked to Oyo State. Speaking on Channels TV on Friday, Ndume welcomes the operation that resulted in the safe recovery of abducted children from Oyo, but says he expected more operational details. He also notes that some information about military equipment and tactics may not be publicly disclosed.

Ndume states that dozens of people remain in captivity in his senatorial district. He says 42 abductees from Mussa are still held, alongside about 37 people from Lassa who were recently kidnapped. He adds that other victims from Muoshi and travellers abducted along the Buratai route have also not yet been rescued. He highlights that some captives include children and students from Lassa preparing for their NECO examinations.

He commends the security forces, saying about eight suspected kidnappers were neutralized and others were arrested during the recent operation. Ndume calls for continued efforts to secure the release of remaining captives in Mussa, Lassa, Muoshi and along the Buratai axis.
