India’s Food Safety and Standards Authority (FSSAI) issues nine notices to quick-commerce platform Swiggy Instamart following consumer complaints alleging unsafe and unfit food deliveries. Across the complaints cited by the regulator, consumers allege they received expired, spoiled, rotten, contaminated, or otherwise unsafe items. The regulator says the issues may indicate violations of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, including concerns about expired products and possible improper storage and handling.

FSSAI also flags alleged compliance and licensing-related shortcomings tied to specific sellers or brands. One complaint involves NOICE Eggs being reportedly sold under a brand category not covered by the existing FSSAI licence, prompting a direction to stop marketing unless the product falls under a valid licence category and the licence is appropriately modified. Other allegations include deliveries after expiry dates for items such as Healthify 100% Whey Protein and Noice Homestyle Madras Mixture with peanuts, as well as reports of spoiled or contaminated eggs and deteriorated food such as Kakke da Paratha.

FSSAI asks Swiggy Instamart to respond with explanations and supporting documents, including details on quality assurance, inventory, storage, hygiene, monitoring, corrective and preventive actions, and grievance handling. It warns that failure to submit the compliance report within the timeline may lead to legal action.
