Nollywood actor Femi Branch calls on Nigerian politicians to stop using schoolchildren in political disputes amid continuing reports of abducted pupils in Nigeria. In a video posted on his Instagram page, he reacts to the abduction of school pupils in Oyo State and to recent statements by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, which Branch says suggest political undertones in the incident. Branch urges leaders to leave “innocent children” out of what he describes as “dirty politics.” He also comments on the impact on victims, noting that pupils and teachers released from Oriire in Oyo State after a reported 56 days in captivity should receive urgent care and may be traumatised. Branch further criticises the broader state of education and calls for attention to improving schools rather than dragging children into political battles. Across the coverage, his message is presented as an appeal for a depoliticised approach to the security crisis affecting schools and children.
