Manideep Reddy, an 18-year-old student from Hyderabad who went missing in Finland in May, is found dead in the sea in Helsinki after more than two months. Multiple reports say the family was informed by the Indian Embassy in Finland that Finnish authorities recovered his body from the water in Helsinki. The family said Manideep spoke to his mother shortly before he went missing, and that his last known sighting was at a mall in Helsinki on May 5. Manideep was studying for a Bachelor’s programme in Software and Systems Engineering at LUT University’s Lahti campus and was reported to be residing in Lahti.

The family and their lawyer describe the circumstances as suspicious and question the investigation and communication from Finnish authorities. They say they received limited updates early on and that contact reduced or stopped after late May, and they have urged the Indian government to help them travel to Finland to make inquiries. In contrast, Deccan Chronicle reports that Finnish police do not suspect foul play, stating that no foul play is suspected. The family continues to seek a further probe into how he disappeared and how he died.
