Avenue Supermarts, the operator of D-Mart, reports higher profit and sales for its first quarter. According to the company’s quarterly results, net profit increases during the quarter, with one report stating profit rises to ₹860.44 crore, an increase of about 11.3% year-on-year. Another report characterizes the quarter as broadly in line, noting that profit rises by 13%. Sales growth also accelerates, with revenue from operations increasing by 14.9% to ₹18,794.53 crore in the quarter.

On business performance, CEO Anshul Asawa attributes growth primarily to expansion and demand in non-metro cities. He also says that growth in older stores located in metro markets remains flat, indicating uneven performance across geography and store age. Overall, the coverage agrees that the quarter delivers revenue growth and higher profitability, alongside a mix of stronger non-metro contributions and stable results from older metro outlets.
