Heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand triggers landslides and debris that shuts down 120 roads, including three national highways, officials report. Several stretches remain cut off as continuous rain causes fresh debris and stones to fall from hillsides, hampering repairs. In Uttarkashi district, the Yamunotri National Highway is completely blocked at Syanachatti after a landslide washes away nearly 100 metres of the road. The highway has been inaccessible for around two days.

About 100 pilgrims stranded on the Yamunotri route are rescued using a rope-guided crossing along an alternative path. Rescue teams secure ropes and escort travellers across the affected area one by one to reach safer points. State Disaster Response Force personnel and district administration conduct the response, with local officials inspecting the site and directing authorities to speed up restoration efforts despite ongoing weather disruptions.

While repair work is underway, officials say the continuing rain and renewed debris keep impacting the affected road sections and slow clearance operations.
