Food Processing Industries Minister Chirag Paswan says the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme has brought over 2 lakh micro food processing enterprises under its credit-linked subsidy coverage since it was launched in 2020. He adds that the enterprises have received a total subsidy of about ₹6,000 crore so far. Paswan also states that loans have been sanctioned for more than 2 lakh micro food processing enterprises in the past six years to help them set up processing facilities. He cites a combined investment of around ₹20,300 crore associated with these facilities.

Paswan further says the PMFME scheme is extended until September of this year. He indicates the ministry is considering launching “PMFME 2.0,” with changes intended to attract more investment in the sector. The announcements are made during an event, where he describes the scale of loan sanctions and subsidy coverage as a significant milestone.
