US Central Command (Centcom) says it completes another wave of precision strikes against Iran and continues operations aimed at degrading Iranian military capabilities in and around the Strait of Hormuz. Centcom says its forces struck about 140 Iranian military targets during the latest round, using precision munitions launched from land- and sea-based aircraft, drones, and naval vessels. In its statements, Centcom says the attacks target a range of assets including missile and drone sites, naval capabilities, ammunition storage facilities, communications networks, and coastal surveillance or radar positions. Centcom also describes the week’s operations as three nights of strikes that have hit more than 300 targets in total, carried out under the direction of the commander in chief. The command links the strikes to what it describes as Iranian attacks on maritime activity, including an incident involving a commercial ship in the Strait of Hormuz. Separately, Centcom says that since early May its forces have helped facilitate the transit of more than 800 commercial vessels carrying about 400 million barrels of crude oil through the Strait of Hormuz.
