A man from Kerala repays an old debt to an ex-colleague more than three decades after the loan was taken. According to reports, Ismail and Lachanna became friends in 1991 while both were working in Abqaiq, Saudi Arabia. They shared accommodation with three other expatriate workers and lived together for nearly five years. At the time, Ismail borrowed Rs 1,000 from Lachanna. After returning to India and moving on with their lives, the repayment remained pending for years. Recently, Ismail approached Lachanna to settle the amount and provide additional money as interest. He returns Rs 25,000 in total, reflecting the long period since the original loan. The case is reported as a rare example of repayment after many years, with both parties connected through their earlier friendship and shared living arrangements abroad. Sources describe the full timeline starting from the 1991 Saudi workplace and ending with the recent repayment.
