Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to President Bola Tinubu, Temitope Ajayi, criticises Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi over an incident involving Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport in Abuja. Ajayi says Obi’s account amounts to mischaracterisation and describes him as “a guilty man who cries the most,” calling on him to recant publicly.

The dispute centres on Obi’s allegation that airport officials wronged him during an event at the airport, including a claim that his vehicle was unjustly clamped as part of an attempt to frustrate him. However, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, states that an internal investigation found Obi’s car was parked in a way that violated airport rules. Keyamo says the investigation and CCTV footage show Obi arrived at the domestic terminal on 4 July 2026 at about 8:28 p.m., with his vehicle driven by a police officer. The minister says the officer parked the vehicle in the designated drop-off zone, left it unattended, and then entered the terminal contrary to regulations.

Keyamo also directs Obi to apologise to airport officials and pay a ₦25,000 fine.
