A speeding Mercedes allegedly hits two young men outside a nightclub in Chandigarh’s Sector 26 on Saturday evening, leaving one in critical condition, according to police and multiple reports. The victims were reportedly stepping out of the club when the vehicle struck them with enough force to throw them onto the road, triggering panic among bystanders who rushed to help. Local residents took the injured men to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH)-32 for treatment. One injured person, identified in one report as Amanjat from Babu Dham Colony in Sector 26, suffers multiple fractures and is reported to be critical, with authorities indicating he may be shifted to PGIMER for further care. Another injured person, identified as Alans Preet Singh from Sector 44 in one report, has multiple fractures but is said to be stable and expected to undergo surgery.
Police from Sector 26 station arrive at the scene, begin evidence collection, and review available footage. CCTV footage from the surrounding area is seized, and investigators also examine a viral video recorded by passersby. A case is registered under hit-and-run and rash and negligent driving, and police say they are searching for and attempting to arrest the absconding driver, including verifying claims that the driver could be a minor.
