Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot suspends KPSC chairman Sahukar (Shivashankarappa S Sahukar) following allegations that he facilitated the “illegal” selection of his two daughters for government officer posts, reported by multiple outlets. The Raj Bhavan statement says complaints allege the chairman helped his daughters secure appointments as Industrial Extension Officers through an unlawful process.

NDTV and News18 report the suspension is linked to a row over the daughters’ recruitment, which opponents describe as nepotism. Times of India adds that calls for an impartial investigation came from Union minister Pralhad Joshi, and that a KPSC secretary’s report also flagged concerns about the selection process.

According to Times of India and The Hindu, the governor also forwards the matter for further constitutional action: he refers the impeachment of the KPSC chairperson to the President of India and recommends that the case be referred to the Supreme Court for an inquiry under Article 317(1) of the Constitution. The suspension and referrals are presented as responses to the allegations and reported irregularities, pending investigation.
