IIT Madras hosts a two-day workshop on student wellness with the Ministry of Education, under the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme. The event brings together more than 200 faculty members and student support professionals from South India, along with experts from academia, government, healthcare and the mental health sector. Participants focus on practical approaches and institutional support systems to strengthen student wellbeing across campuses. Topics discussed include mentoring and counselling, preventive mental health, and ways to build support mechanisms within educational institutions. The institute also highlights that its Wellness Centre has received ISO 45001:2018 certification, and describes this as a first for a Centrally Funded Technical Institute. Overall, the workshop aims to share knowledge and encourage implementation of student wellness practices in higher education settings.
