Gunmen kidnap the headmaster of Nomadic Basic School, Igbojaye, in Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State, and demand a N30 million ransom for his release, multiple Nigerian outlets report. The victim is identified as 60-year-old Matthew Kolawale Owoade, popularly known as “Onaiye.” Family members say he is abducted while returning from a visit to his farm in Budo Aare. Reports state the incident happens on Saturday evening, between about 5pm and 6pm. After the abduction, the kidnappers reportedly contact the family using the victim’s phone and demand N30m. During a search, his motorcycle is found abandoned in a bush, according to one account. Oyo State Police Command officials confirm the kidnapping and say efforts are ongoing to rescue the headmaster unhurt and to apprehend the perpetrators. The community expresses concern and calls on security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant services, to intervene. The incident follows earlier reports of government-linked operations involving previously kidnapped schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.
