In Indore, Madhya Pradesh, family members and postal department employees protest outside Sanyogitaganj Police Station demanding the immediate arrest of the absconding husband of assistant postmaster Urmila Saini. The protests are held three days after Saini, a postal assistant at MG Road Post Office, is allegedly stabbed and killed at her government residence in Dak Kunj Colony under Manorama Ganj police limits. Police say her husband, identified as Akhilesh Saini, fled and remains untraceable; officials report that his last known location was traced to Sarwate Bus Stand before he disappeared.
Demonstrators submit a memorandum to the station in-charge, seeking swift action, a fair and speedy investigation, security support for the victim’s family, and stronger safety measures for women employees. Police say five teams have been deployed to locate the accused and that investigators are monitoring debit card transactions the husband allegedly used after fleeing. Teams are also reportedly sent to relatives’ homes outside the city.
Saini’s daughter, Preksha Saini, appears in a viral video pleading for the husband to be caught alive so he can face the same suffering her mother experienced, rather than being killed in an encounter. She also alleges the murder was planned, including claims about the weapon and alleged surveillance of her mother. Police continue their search.
