A Delhi court convicts former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councillor Tahir Hussain and four others in the 2020 northeast Delhi riots-related murder of Intelligence Bureau (IB) staffer Ankit Sharma. According to multiple reports, the verdict is delivered by Additional Sessions Judge Praveen Singh at Karkardooma Court. Sharma, who worked for the IB, goes missing after leaving home on February 25, 2020 amid communal clashes. His body is later recovered from a drain near the Chand Bagh bridge in Khajuri Khas, with post-mortem findings cited as indicating multiple stab wounds.

The court finds Hussain and four co-accused guilty of offenses including murder, kidnapping with intent to confine, and rioting with deadly weapons, along with charges related to promoting enmity and related acts. Reports also state that six other accused are acquitted for lack of evidence. Separately, charges relating to criminal conspiracy are reported as dropped or result in acquittal on certain conspiracy and abetment of mutiny counts.

Hussain, who was an AAP councillor at the time of the incident, had been suspended by the party after his name came up in the case.
