The Delhi government launches the AI-enabled Dust Portal 2.0 to monitor dust pollution from construction sites in real time and improve enforcement. The upgrade, launched by the Chief Minister at the Delhi Secretariat, replaces manual monitoring with an AI-based system that generates alerts automatically when issues are detected at construction locations. According to reporting, the portal connects 360-degree cameras and sensors installed at sites to the Delhi Pollution Control Committee, enabling instant notifications and support for compliance monitoring.
Officials say the city has about 1,800 construction sites, with roughly 800 to 900 currently active. Reportedly, around 800 sites have already been equipped with 360-degree cameras linked to the system. Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa also says the portal can alert authorities if a sensor stops working, and that the platform is made more accessible by offering a mobile application in addition to computer access.
The initiative is presented as part of Delhi’s broader clean air efforts, including the government’s “Clean Air, Healthy Delhi” programme, which includes a multi-year action plan with support from the World Bank.
