A 10-year-old boy drowns after entering a water-filled excavated pit on a private property in Andheri (West), Mumbai, authorities say. The incident occurs on Monday afternoon, when the boy falls into or enters the pit, which is reportedly filled with water. After the incident is reported, police and rescue personnel are mobilized to the site. A search operation lasting about 3.5 hours is carried out to locate the child’s body. The body is recovered by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) during the operation. Following recovery, the boy is taken to Cooper Hospital, where doctors declare him brought dead. The incident prompts an emergency response by local agencies, including rescue teams and police, as officials continue to assess the circumstances around the excavation site and access to the area.
