The United States women’s national team will play Spain, the world’s top-ranked side, in two friendlies in October. The matches are scheduled for 10 October in Washington, D.C., and 13 October in Chester, Pennsylvania. The series brings together the most successful recently crowned teams at major international events: the United States, which won Olympic gold in 2024, and Spain, which captured the 2023 Women’s World Cup. Both games are set to function as a performance benchmark for each team with the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil approaching in a matter of months. For the United States, the friendlies also serve as part of its preparation for the Concacaf W Championship later in November. That tournament doubles as the World Cup qualifying pathway for teams in the Concacaf region. The friendlies are intended to provide tune-up opportunities ahead of those competitive fixtures as the teams move into the next phase of the international calendar.
