A tourist family from Nashik alleges they are attacked, sexually assaulted, robbed and threatened near Bhavli Dam and the nearby waterfall in Igatpuri, Maharashtra. According to the FIR and police statements cited by multiple outlets, the family visited the Bhavli area on July 12. The complainant, a 44-year-old woman, alleges two youths whistled and harassed her, and when family members objected, a larger group arrived and assaulted them. The allegations include tearing the woman’s clothes and molesting her, while the husband’s phone and a gold chain are reported stolen during the incident. Police say the group then chased the family’s vehicles on the Nashik–Mumbai–Agra highway, blocked their path and attacked the car with sticks, iron rods and baseball bats, with the family reporting repeated intercepts before reaching help.

Nine people were initially arrested and remanded to police custody until July 18. Later reporting says the arrest count rises to 12, while some suspects remain absconding. Police also conduct a crime-scene reconstruction at the Bhavli Dam area, and officials cite video evidence used to identify roles. Investigators continue searching for additional accused and other vehicles used in the attack.
