An arrest warrant is issued against Levito Baligod, a lawyer representing the so-called “18 ex-bodyguards” of fugitive former lawmaker Zaldy Co, for two counts of cyber libel. Baligod says the warrant is issued by the Makati Regional Trial Court Branch 148 on June 15. He adds that the case originates from cyber libel complaints filed by Department of Agriculture (DA) chief Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. According to Baligod’s posts, he only received a copy of the arrest warrant on Monday, after the order was issued earlier. The reports describe that Baligod posted about the warrant on his Facebook page, stating that he learned of it upon receiving the document. The coverage frames the warrant as part of the ongoing legal dispute stemming from the cyber libel case filed by Laurel against Baligod in relation to statements connected to the “18 ex-bodyguards” issue and Zaldy Co.
