Apple used WWDC to make its strongest AI statement yet, unveiling a rebuilt “Siri AI” and a broader Apple Intelligence push that aims to make the assistant more conversational, context-aware and useful across apps, while extending those changes into macOS 27 Golden Gate. The company is leaning hard on privacy, with on-device processing and private cloud infrastructure, but investor enthusiasm appeared muted as Apple tries to prove it can catch rivals in the AI race. At the same time, governments are pressing the industry on safety: UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has given Apple, Google and others until September to deploy stronger protections against children accessing or sharing explicit images, or face legislation. And in London, the future of transport edged closer as Uber opened a waitlist for Wayve-powered robotaxis, signaling commercial self-driving rides may soon become a reality on UK streets.
