Multiple outlets report a new supply-chain claim that Apple’s iPhone 20 will return to a more glass-forward design. A Weibo leaker known as “Fixed Focus Digital” says the “preferred approach” for the iPhone 20 is to go back to glass, described as aiming for manufacturing quality similar to the first-generation iPhone Air. The leaker adds that a relevant production facility has already been renovated and is awaiting equipment/processing to begin, though it does not specify the facility location or whether trial production has started.
The claim also names potential suppliers connected to glass and assembly: Biel Crystal is described as the likely primary supplier, with BYD and Lens Technology also involved. Lens Technology is referenced in connection with cover glass work, and the report says manufacturers could adapt older equipment previously used for glass-backed iPhone Pro models rather than installing entirely new machinery.
Separately, MacRumors notes iPhone production typically ramps in the weeks before launch, and frames the renovation as early groundwork for a 2027 launch. Bloomberg has previously reported Apple plans a mostly glass, curved iPhone for the 20th anniversary, with no display cutouts.
