Kebbi State Governor Dr. Nasir Idris approves the release of N2.11 billion for gratuities and death benefits for 772 retirees and their families, according to reports. The Head of Service, Malami Shakari, announces the decision in a statement signed by the Director of Administration, Rashidu Muhammad Bala. The approval covers beneficiaries including retired state and contract staff, former local government workers, retirees from the Local Government Education Authorities, and next of kin of deceased public servants entitled to death benefits. The statement says the approved amount is N2,110,403,965.83 and is meant to settle benefits that accrued between September 16, 2025, and January 15, 2026. The payment is described as part of the administration’s effort to ensure prompt settlement of retirement entitlements and to clear outstanding gratuities and other retirement benefits. Both outlets report that the move aims to reduce financial burdens on retirees and bereaved families while reaffirming the government’s focus on workers’ welfare.
