A 42-year-old man, Darren McNamee, of Talbot Hall, Riverbank, Swords in north Dublin, is charged with the murder of Anthony Long. Gardaí investigating a fatal incident bring McNamee before Blanchardstown District Court on Wednesday morning, where he is remanded in custody. The court remand is made for directions of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), according to one report.

Sources describe that Anthony Long attended a gathering at a house near his home. A confrontation follows at around 3.55am, and Long is later found at the scene with severe injuries. He dies as a result of the incident, prompting the Garda investigation and subsequent charge against McNamee.

The case is now proceeding through the criminal justice system following the court appearance, with the next steps linked to the DPP directions.
