The NHL announces the home openers for all 32 teams as the league prepares to begin the 2024-25 season schedule. The Carolina Hurricanes will start their home slate on Sept. 29 by hosting the Florida Panthers. Before the game, Carolina will raise its second Stanley Cup championship banner, marking the franchise’s most recent title.

According to the reports, the Hurricanes secured their championship by winning the Eastern Conference and then defeating the Vegas Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup Final. The team had not won the Cup since 2006. Florida enters the matchup with expectations of contending again, though previous injuries limited its performance and contributed to the club missing the playoffs.

The Panthers and Hurricanes are therefore set to open the NHL season from Carolina’s home rink, with the banner-raising ceremony preceding the first regular-season meeting highlighted by the league’s schedule release.
