Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, files a N15 billion defamation lawsuit against Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, described in the reports as the director-general of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). The case is filed at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja.

According to multiple outlets, Gbajabiamila says the allegations against him are false and that he did not meet the defendant, while also denying claims attributed to him, including bribery-related allegations. Several reports say the dispute follows a cease-and-desist letter dated 6 July in which Gbajabiamila asks Adeyemi to retract the claims and tender an apology. Premium Times reports the suit is filed about nine days after that letter.

All sources agree the suit seeks N10 billion as general damages and N5 billion as aggravated damages. They also report Gbajabiamila asks for N200 million as the cost of the action and seeks an order requiring the defendant to publish a retraction and apology in five national newspapers.
