Cold Symmetry says demand for the physical PlayStation 5 “Revered Edition” of Mortal Shell 2 has exceeded expectations and that additional boxed copies are unlikely to be restocked before the game’s August 20 release. In a post shared on X on July 16, the developer and publisher Playstack apologize to players who preordered the edition in advance but find it no longer available in their territory. Cold Symmetry attributes the situation to supply being unable to keep up, noting manufacturing time needed to replenish stock and describing the chance of further physical availability before launch as “very low.”

The studio also says it is working with its distribution partner to review ongoing demand and will update if the partner decides on next steps, but it emphasizes there is no guarantee of a replenishment plan after launch because the decision is not theirs. Across coverage, the agreement is that the limited supply problem is specific to the Revered Edition. The base PS5 physical version remains available to preorder, while retailers indicate the Revered Edition is unavailable or marked as coming soon. The game launches as a standalone sequel in its August 20 window.
