The Office of the Ombudsman says the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) may appeal the dismissal of plunder, malversation, and graft complaints filed against former Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) executive Arnaldo “Arnell” Ignacio and others. The complaints stem from allegations involving an anomalous land deal valued at about P1.4 billion, involving Ignacio, former OWWA officials, and private individuals described as sellers in the property transaction.

DMW said it plans to file a Motion for Reconsideration, with Secretary Hans Cacdac indicating that the department believes the Ombudsman’s resolution dismissing the cases did not adequately address its arguments. According to the reports, the Ombudsman’s position is consistent with DMW’s intent to seek reconsideration after the antigraft body junked the complaints.

Both outlets describe the same procedural development: the dismissal of the cases and the possibility of an appeal through a motion for reconsideration, following the Ombudsman’s ruling on the plunder, graft, and malversation charges related to the alleged land acquisition anomalies.
