Netflix is launching a new video game, “Netflix Minigolf,” a couch co-op party experience that mixes minigolf and pinball elements. The game releases July 28 and is available to all Netflix subscribers. Players use their phones as controllers and can play locally with up to four people. The game features more than 60 levels set in locations inspired by popular Netflix titles, including “Stranger Things,” “Squid Game,” and “Bridgerton.” Character- and show-based elements appear in gameplay, including additions such as a “Stranger Things” Demogorgon and “Squid Game” character Young-hee. Netflix-owned studio Next Games develops the title; the studio has also worked on other Netflix-branded games. One gameplay feature described across coverage is the ability to collect “Pranks,” which can be used to disrupt opponents during matches. The announcement positions the game as part of Netflix’s ongoing shift toward social and party games that can be played quickly at home. In addition to this minigolf title, Netflix this year has released other games, including World Cup-themed content and a horror game directed by David Fincher.
